For game designers

Game Design

Project management for game designers and game teams, for the work that runs alongside the engine. Cutscenes, key art sequences and trailer cuts all need shot order, timing, camera and gameplay state planned before anyone burns engine time on them. Formta gives game teams a working surface for that, with 3D layers on each frame, and keeps the design docs, the asset library and the schedule in the same project.

Create more. Manage less.

Plan Cutscenes Frame By Frame

Each Storyboard frame has a canvas with layers and the shot's details next to it, like scene, shot, duration, action, dialogue, audio, camera movement and transition. Press Space to play the sequence with its timing, and export it as an MP4, a WebM or an animated GIF to share the cut before any engine time goes into it.

Your Characters In 3D

On Studio and Pro, a frame can take 3D models, cameras and lights. Import a character or an environment as a GLTF, GLB, FBX, OBJ or 3DM file, place the camera and draw your notes over the scene. Export a frame as GLB, glTF or OBJ for the animator or the engine team. Formta is for planning the shot, and the game itself is still built in your engine.

Features, Bugs And Milestones

A To Do Kanban keeps features and bugs as cards in columns you name yourself, like Backlog, In Progress, In Review and Done, each with a status and a responsible person. A Table suits a longer backlog you want to sort and export. The Timeline shows the milestones and who's working on what, a month at a time.

Milestone Reviews With The Publisher

Hover Share and select Send to client to send a milestone page to the publisher or a playtester. They create a free Formta account, or sign in, comment and approve, and each round is kept in its own tab. Keep characters, environments, concept art and UI references in your inventory, so the next game in the series starts with them.
