Building a company in public: First month of Formta on social media

Time flies. It has already been one month of building a company in public.

FIRST MONTH ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Let's start with some numbers of the first month of Formta on social media:

- Number of unique visitors on website during the first month*: +700

- Number of countries represented among website visitors*: 59

- Number of followers on Instagram: +200

- Budget for marketing: 400 DDK / 54 € / 57 US$

*Analytics on the website is likely inaccurate due to disabled cookies. (Because my website is GDPR compliant and only collects data if people give permission)

TERRIBLE CONVERSION RATE

During the last month I've changed the landing page a couple of times, since the conversion rate wasn't great. At first I focused on changing the copy and image. It has definitely improved the conversion rate, but it's still not perfect. I'm guessing it's probably caused by the lack of product pictures.

It's difficult to get people to sign up to a newsletter for a product they haven't seen from a future company, they've never heard of. Which is why one of my top priorities right now is to create something in Figma to use on the website + social media. Hopefully that'll improve the conversion rate even more.

AMERICAN ACCELERATOR

An American accelerator program has contacted me, because they think Formta would be a great match for them. So that's something to investigate to see if it makes sense for Formta.

CO-FOUNDERS

I've started my search for potential co-founders and have had the first couple of interviews. I'm definitely blown away by the level of candidates. It's nice to know Formta can attract that kind of quality.

DIY - BUILDING AN MVP

I've also decided to start creating an MVP by myself while I search for a potential technical co-founder. I'm currently focusing on creating a prototype in Figma, while continuously talking to potential customers, making sure the software fit their needs.

TECH NORDIC ADVOCATES INTERNATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAMME

It's also been +1 month in the Tech Nordic Advocates Programme, which I'm extremely impressed by. Everything related to it is of such a high quality. The community and knowledge you get access to is super helpful. I'm definitely learning a lot and feel much better prepared for starting a tech company!
