When planning a project it's important to add buffer time to your plan. This is needed because a lot of unforeseen things can happen during a project, and you need to have time in your calendar to handle that. So how much extra time is needed? Here's our advice 👇
How much buffer time to add to your project plan?
Expected project length:
<3 MONTHS
For a project lasting less than 3 months, add one week extra.
3 TO 6 MONTHS
For a project lasting 3 to 6 months, add one month extra.
>6 MONTHS
For a project lasting more than 6 months, add one month extra for every 6 months. Meaning a project estimated to last 6 months = a 7 months plan, 12 months = a 14 months plan etc.
